Journey 19
May 6 - 13, 2005
On May 6th, 2005 a 16 year old boy from Loveland, CO was
provided a Black Bear hunting trip to Canada. This young man is fighting
Ewing Sarcoma and has been through many medical treatments including
chemo . He and his father flew from Denver to Grande Prairie, Canada
and spent 6 days and nights hunting Black Bear with Mighty Peace
Outfitting.
The outfitter Derrel Johnson of Mighty Peace Outfitting went
out of his way to accommodate them and donated the entire hunt, food and
lodging. We paid their airfare there and back along with the fee for
the hunting license. They had a great time and saw lots of animals
including several black bear, elk, and moose.
Not only did this young man get a Black Bear on May 9th, he got
the largest one in camp and it just may be a Boone and Corckett record!
This young man had a place picked out on his wall to hang the bear but may have to change locations because of the large size.
