Journey 48
December 26-29, 2014
A
16 year old young man, from South Dakota, fighting Pilomyxoid Astrocytoma (Brain Cancer), enjoyed a Journey to see the Denver
Broncos play the Oakland Raiders in Denver!
What
an adventure!!!!!!!!
Our young man and his family were flown to Denver from Rapid City, South Dakota
on a private jet, provided by Sports Authority at no
cost!!!!
The
family was then picked up at the airport with a limo provided by Sports
Authority, and taken to the Westin Denver Downtown Hotel.
The
Westin provided accommodations (at no cost) in
the Tabor Suite, and gave our family tickets to "A Christmas Carol"
at the Denver Center for Performing Arts!!!
The
following morning, Charlie O's Photography was
waiting outside the Westin to capture the memories as they happened! Charlie
donated his time and efforts to the Journey!
We
had a slight delay as the dreaded Evil Empire...the Raiders, were staying at
the Westin and were loading on to their buses at the same time the limo was
coming to pick up the family. A Last Minute Limos and our
driver, Joseph Lujan, provided a stretch limo also at no cost, to transport
everyone for the entire day’s events and back!!!!
Now,
on to the Broncos game...
Our family got to get up close and see the Broncos players walking in to the
stadium (Sports Authority Field at Mile High) to get ready for the game. Then,
inside the tunnel, our young man got to meet Thunder (the Broncos' Arabian
horse), and the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders!!! It was then onto the field for the team warmups, pictures, and the beginning of
the game. During the first television
network timeout of the game, the Broncos made our kiddo the Broncos Country
Hero of the Game, and did a presentation on the JumboTron in front 76,000 fans
to see while our family was in the North end zone!! But wait, that's not all!!!! Our family
got to be the guests of Sports Authority in their private Suite, to watch the
game! During the second quarter of the game, Miles the Mascot came up to the Suite
and gave our young man a Miles hat and a signed Peyton Manning Jersey!!! Not done with our kiddo yet. Sports Authority also presented him with a GoPro
Camera and a $500 gift card!!!!
There was lots of food, including sushi, snacks, and drinks available in the
Suite.
The Broncos won!!!!! 47 - 14! Excitement abounded! After the game, our kiddo asked if the limo could take him to a Sports
Authority store so he could spend his gift card, and everyone went to watch him!
Drat! The day had to end, and the limo took the family back to the Westin. The next morning, Sports Authority provided a private jet ride back home to
South Dakota for the family!!!!
Kevin Torres and Enrico Meyer from 9News Denver, did a great photojournalism
story on our young man!!!!
Special thanks to ALL that made this Journey happen!
